During which semester should I begin studying English? |
Regardless of the level in which you are placed, ideally, you should start studying English as soon as possible so that you meet the Institutional Requirement. |

How do I know which level I am in? |
All students taken an English placement test as part of the admissions process at ITESO. The result of this test will indicate the level in which you have been placed. |

How can I find out the result of the placement test? |

Can I take the placement test again? |
You can take the placement test up to 3 times. The first is part of your admissions process and is free. The second and third times have a cost of $248.00 (2021 price). |

Options for meeting the Institutional English Requirement are: |

How many points do I need on the Institutional TOEFL / TOEFL iBT tests to meet the requirement? |
You need a minimum of 550 points on the Institutional TOEFL test or 79 points on the TOEFL iBT in order to meet the Institutional English Requirement. |

What is the TOEFL test for? |
|
|
Do I have to take the TOEFL to graduate? |
No, it is not necessary. |
|
Can any student take the level 8 verification exam? |
Only students who are directly placed in level 8 are candidates for the verification exam. Once the verification exam is passed, the student has met with the Institutional English Requirement. |

What happens if I have not passed level 2 when I reach 20% of my curricular credits? |
You would have to enroll in PCI to be able to register for classes. |
|
What happens if I have not passed level 5 when I reach 45% of my curricular credits? |
You would have to enroll in PCI and would only be able to register for 32 credits. |

What happens if I have not completed the requirement when I reach 70% of my curricular credits? |
You would have to enroll in PCI and would NOT be able to register for any course. |

Where can I practice languages at ITESO outside of the classroom? |
At the Language Hub (library, 3rd floor) |

You can study other languages whenever you decide; you do not have to wait to finish the English requirement first. |

You must take only one mandatory curricular course. |

The tutoring sessions are free of charge.
