Information about the professors and administrators who work in the Language Department
Adelina Ruíz
¿I hold a bachelor's degree in Social Psychology, a master's in English Teaching and am in the process of obtaining a PhD in Education—these last two from the University of Nottingham in the United Kingdom.
I began my English teaching career in 1989. I have worked as both teacher and program coordinator at various language institutions and schools at primary, secondary and high school levels. I arrived at ITESO in 2001 to help with Learner Autonomy projects, which has been one of the areas in which I have developed my broadest expertise. Within what is now called the Language Department, I have worked as a teacher in the English Certificate Program (Programa Certificado de Inglés), an English teacher, a teacher coordinator, and since 2009, as the one in charge of the language Hub.
I have had the fortune of also being involved in teacher formation projects within ITESO, as well as the British Council. This is an area in which I have also built solid experience.
For me, being a teacher is talking about who I am and not what I do. I believe in educating and accompanying each other in the present and for the future. I believe in building together and in the transcendence of the teaching work that seeks to strengthen the student.

Enrique Sánchez Guzmán
I have a bachelor's degree in Law from the University of Guadalajara and a master's in English Teaching from Centro Panamericano de Estudios Superiores. I have been an English teacher since 2005, working at diverse language schools and universities. I have taught all levels of the language to people of all ages. I have also been a teacher trainer and English proficiency exam evaluator at various institutions. I have been working at ITESO since 2013, where I have been a teacher of the English Certificate Program (Programa Certificado de Inglés) and of subjects in English, which I currently coordinate in the Language Department. I also give the Critical Reading and Writing Expression in English course online. It is a great personal and professional satisfaction for me to help our university students acquire academic skills in English, as this will provide them with access to more and better job opportunities in our globalized world today.

I have a bachelor's degree (from CENEVAL) and a master's (from St. Mark & St. John, Marjon, UK) in English Teaching. I began my career in English teaching in 1992. Since then, and until 2003, I worked in language institutions and schools at primary, secondary and higher-education levels. In 2005, I arrived at ITESO and have since then collaborated in the Language Department as a professor of the varying English programs within the university. I am currently the teacher coordinator of Programa Alternativo de Inglés (Alternative English Program, PAI), as well as of the German, French and languages other than English programs.
In addition to my work as a teacher at ITESO, I have had the fortune of participating in other projects at the university such as English teacher training for SEP and the private sector.
For me, participating in the formation process of ITESO students, as well as being able to accompany and share experiences with my fellow colleagues, is a privilege and a commitment that I appreciate and enjoy every day.

I am a TESOL graduate from ITESO and St. Mark & St. John University (UK). I obtained my bachelor's in English Teaching at the University of Guadalajara. In 2009, I began to teach English at ITESO as a PCI teacher. Having been a Spanish as a Foreign Language teacher in the United States, I was invited to give Spanish classes to foreigners in the Language Department. I have thus been teaching both languages, as well as participating in ICT projects. I am very interested in what technology can contribute to teaching and have participated in the design of online courses in both English and Spanish. Currently, I am the Coordinator of Teaching Technologies (virtual and blended courses as a primary part) and the Spanish Program for Foreigners. I also coordinate the Dual Immersion program, which has now been a core part of PCI and the Language Department. This has been growing favorably with the objective of promoting foreign languages on our campus. We currently have practice sessions with the following universities: University of Miami, University of San Francisco, Boston College. Very soon, sessions in French-Spanish will be available; Université du Québec à Trois-Rivières will join in.

I studied my bachelor's degree in Education Science at ITESO and my master's in English Teaching at St. Mark & St. John University in the UK. I have worked as an English teacher for 20 years and have had the opportunity give classes in various areas and education levels. My career at ITESO began in the year 2003 within the English Certificate Program (Programa Certificado de Inglés, PCI), teaching classes at various levels. In addition, I have participated in the teacher training workshops from SEP, coordinated by ITESO. I have been part of the Language Department teacher coordination group since November 2012. I am responsible for Teacher Coordination at levels 5 and 6 in PCI and am in charge of around 12 teachers.
Paula Zulaica Gómez
Currently, I am the director of the Language Department at ITESO and have the pleasure of working with an excellent group of people who toe the Jesuit and ITESO line proudly. I arrived at ITESO in 2009 as a teacher, and from 2012 until 2018, I was the Coordinator of Online Applications at the Language Department.
I am passionate about looking for new ways of including technology in learning without neglecting the human touch. I have worked to ensure that this effort be reflected, previously, as a teacher in the coordination of blended and 100% virtual English groups and the Dual Immersion Project; and now, as director of this department.
In addition to my work with technology and the English language, I worked in the Spanish for Foreigners and Oral and Written Communication academies at ITESO. I have also been a professor at Boston University, Simmons College and San Jose State University in the United States, where I taught Spanish language, advanced composition, introduction to Hispanic literature and Latin American culture and civilization.
