Información sobre el curso de preparación para el examen TOEFL
ITESO's Language Department offers a 6-week blended learning course for high intermediate English language students to prepare you with techniques and strategies to take the ITP TOEFL.
In order to qualify as a course candidate, you must score at least 490 points on the diagnostic test (TOEFL Drill). The course takes place over 6 weeks, and it consists of 6 two-hour face-to-face sessions (Wednesdays 6-8pm) and at least 30 hours worth of online study time spread over 5 weeks, for a course total of 42 hours.
You are expected to study for at least these 6 hours each week while taking the course. At the end of the course, you will be given a TOEFL drill where you take the exam under the exam same exam conditions as the real test.
Then you can compare your scores pre and post preparation course. If your scores have increased substantially, then we recommend that you sign up for the ITP TOEFL exam at the university.
During the six two hour face to face sessions you will receive coaching, assignments, and feedback from your tutor, and during the week, your tutor will be online sporadically answering your questions and tutoring the group in general via forums and conferences.
There is also a one hour simultaneous chat session each week, where you will be required to log in to chat with your peers and the course tutor. This is a good time to bring up and questions or doubts you might have.
You will be using online materials (Macmillan Practice Online Advanced Academic English with TOEFL at ITESO's bookstore) as well as ITESO's Moodle webpage for the TOEFL Preparation Course. You will be expected to do at least 6 hours work outside the classroom each week. Note: TOEFL preparation is very much up to you.
Your success depends on the amount of time you dedicate to it. Taking the ITESO TOEFL Preparation Course does not immediately guarantee you success. That is entirely up to you, your knowledge, and the amount of effort you make.
