Institutional English Requirement at ITESO

Thumbnail

It is important for ITESO that its students have a solid grasp of the English language for their university education, as well as professional development.  Therefore, there is an institutional English requirement for all students in every undergraduate program.  Without this English certificate, students will be unable to graduate.

With this required level of proficiency, students can have access to more bibliographic resources, classes with content in English, and study abroad exchange programs offered by ITESO.

All students must comply with the English language proficiency certification according to the year in which they entered ITESO.

For students who were admitted starting fall 2015
The Academic Council of ITESO, the highest academic authority of the university, agreed that all students who have been admitted as of fall 2015 must certify English as follows:

*Before accrediting 20% of the program, you need to pass Level 2.
*ABefore accrediting 45% of the program, you need to pass Level 5.
*Before accrediting 70% of the program, you need to meet the Institutional English Requirement.

What implications does this have for your enrollment process?

  • If you have not passed Level 2 (or its equivalent) by the time you reach 20% of the credits, you will be required to enroll in the PCI Level that applies to you.
  • If you have not passed Level 5 by the time you reach 45% of the credits, you will be required to enroll in the PCI Level that applies to you; you will also be limited to register for a maximum of 32 credits (12 in the summer).
  • If you do not have the requirement covered by reaching 70% of the credits, you will not be able to register for classes.
